Energy-Efficient Initialization Protocols for Ad-hoc Radio Networks

چکیده
The main contribution of this work is to propose energy-eecient randomized initialization protocols for ad-hoc radio networks (ARN, for short). First, we show that if the number n of stations is known beforehand, the single-channel ARN can be initialized by a protocol that terminates, with high probability, in O(n) time slots with no station being awake for more than O(log n) time slots. We then go on to address the case where the number n of stations in the ARN is not known beforehand. We begin by discussing, an elegant protocol that provides a tight approximation of n. Interestingly, this protocol terminates, with high probability, in O((log n) 2) time slots and no station has to be awake for more than O(log n) time slots. We use this protocol to design an energy-eecient initialization protocol that terminates, with high probability, in O(n) time slots with no station being awake for more than O(log n) time slots. Finally, we design an energy-eecient initialization protocol for the k-channel ARN that terminates, with high probability, in O(n k + log n) time slots, with no station being awake for more than O(log n) time slots.

Intuitionistic fuzzy logic for adaptive energy efficient routing in mobile ad-hoc networks
In recent years, mobile ad-hoc networks have been used widely due to advances in wireless technology. These networks are formed in any environment that is needed without a fixed infrastructure or centralized management. Mobile ad-hoc networks have some characteristics and advantages such as wireless medium access, multi-hop routing, low cost development, dynamic topology and etc. In these netwo...

Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...

متن کاملBroadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach
While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...

Bluetooth Location Network (BLN) is a Bluetooth radio network that is composed of some mobile Bluetooth devices and static Bluetooth units, and is established at the system initialization to form a spontaneous network topology. In a BLN, a multicast service is defined as the periodical delivering of messages from a Service Server to a set of mobile devices which are the multicast members predef...
